Mandarangan Recordings is now more than 10 years old! When I was about 14 years old, I have always thought that my place in the underground was in making fanzines. Alas, only one issue of Tribal Idiosyncrasies fanzine came out (back in '94!). I've gradually lost interest for reasons I don't remember anymore, so I published everything else I've accumulated in a newsletter called Psy-War and then left the Philippines in '98. As soon as I got an address here I started sending out tapes and local zines to everyone I knew. Eventually Mandarangan Recordings was born (then O.W.L. Records), mainly to release my noise project Insomnia's newest materials. I never thought it would last this long. Looking at the catalog now, I just realized there isn't a lot of releases for a label that's been around this long. I guess I'm too picky who I'd release but I have also been really broke for a very long time so I guess I had no choice but to be ultra picky for the label to survive. I don't actually make any money with the label but I also don't wanna loose too much running it. Just to break even would be an accomplishment. So why not raise prices? No fucking way. Mandarangan Recordings will always be runned non-profit and totally DIY!
